SEA-Teacher Project

Revitalizing Teacher Education

On January 27-February 22, 2025, the Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia (SEA-Teacher Project) – Pilot Batch 4 was hosted by the four universities in Japan, Thailand, Philippines, and Indonesia. I, Pia Lyn M. Mercado (Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English), was one of the two students sent by the Central Luzon State University in the Philippines to Khon Kaen University in Thailand as the participants for this batch.

This one-month-long exchange program is sponsored by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) in collaboration with multiple universities in Southeast Asia. Through this, the student teachers are given the opportunity to gain an ultimate practice teaching experience abroad, while being able to appreciate the beauty of the culture in other Southeast Asian countries and to build a good connection with other educators across the region.

Unlike the Regular Batch, which is open to all Southeast Asian countries, the Pilot Batch is an exclusive agreement between four universities: University of Tsukuba (Japan), Central Luzon State University (Philippines), Khon Kaen University (Thailand), and Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (Indonesia).
